Our city streets are dark, dirty, dangerous and are often dominated by raping, robbing, and rampaging children. In 1992, juvenile courts handled 2,500 criminal homicides and over a million cases of lesser crimes. We are seeing more and more very young people commit serious, sordid, and sadistic crimes–some kids as young as six! As families, homes, and churches implode, a subculture of juvenile criminals has developed.

Juveniles used to be considered young, athletic students with ruddy complexion, squeaky voice and acne, but now they are often vindictive, vicious, and violent criminals.

No kid has to be taught to lie, steal, talk back, rebel, etc. It is human nature. Theologians call it the “fallen nature,” as a result of original sin.

We have been assured that “there is no such thing as a bad boy” (or girl); however, the fact is, there is no such thing as a good boy (or girl). No kid has to be taught to lie, steal, talk back, rebel, etc. It is human nature. Theologians call it the “fallen nature,” as a result of original sin. But since that is not politically correct, men have been conned into believing all people are basically good–then they try to justify and explain why “good” people commit outrageously brutal crimes.

Part of the problem of juvenile crime is the criminal justice system itself. While ours may be the “best in the world” (what does that say about the rest of the world?) it is long overdue for a major overhaul. It is part of my recommended crime bill to insist on that overhaul.

Kids must no longer have a free ride until age 18. They must get the message that they will be held accountable for their actions with their names and photos published in the media, and their record following them if they continue into adult crime. Studies show that a juvenile’s crime record is one of the most valid predictors of repeat adult crime.

Young criminals should not be in school, and while the bleeding hearts whine about those kids, I prefer to show my concern for the large group who want to learn. Put the violent kids in a boot camp where they can be made into “young marines” under the tutelage of a traditional leatherneck trained at Parris Island.

Get them up at 5:00 a.m., feed them a big breakfast and work them until they drop. Absolutely no back talk and only magic words such as “yes sir,” “no sir,” “please,” and “thank you, sir” would be permitted. And no psychologist, psychiatrist, social worker, or lawyer within 100 miles!

Those kids who are involved in non violent crime would be treated less severely. They would be forced to make restitution to their victims, clean up any mess they made and spend time in structured community service.

Kids must learn that justice will be swift, sure, and severe in the courts if not at home and school. Personal accountably will be the reality from now on. That will appall many social scientists and psychologists who tell us that a person is not responsible for personal actions. It all goes back, we are told, to poor potty training, low self esteem, poor living conditions, etc., so a young person should not be held to an accounting for his crimes. My intellectual reply is poppycock, balderdash and a generous portion of hogwash.

We are told that kids murder, mug, and maim because they grew up in poverty; however, poverty doesn’t cause crime; crime causes poverty. Juveniles, like adults, commit crimes because they choose to do so. And they must be held accountable.

When young criminals kill and rape, they should be treated like adults, even executing them! Most of us are horrified at that thought but if capital punishment can be defended (and it can be) then who is to say one must be 21? If a 16-year-old commits a vicious murder, who says he should not pay with his life? Of course, there must be an age below which a child would not be executed, but that is a political decision made in each state.

So the message to kids should be clear, concise, and conclusive. No free ride until 18. No anonymity. No blaming poverty, parents, or potty training for criminality. No more community service for rape and murder. Even the dullest teen will understand that society considers leniency lunacy and a thing of the past.

Kids think they can get away with murder and they will continue to believe that until citizens force the criminal justice system to get its act together. When a few teens “walk the last mile” other teens will get the message that sane, sensible, and scared people are taking over from the bleating hearts.

The radical leftist, upon reading this, will stand up and on cue, bleed all over himself; however, my heart bleeds for the innocent victims not for criminals, young or old.

I think teens SHOULD definitely be executed, just like any other person would, for murder. They are just as capable of determining right from wrong as someone that is of age. They should be accountable for their actions.

Jus think of it as if yhur kids, best friend, cousin, etc was gna be put to the death penalty. i bet yhu wouldnt lyk tht.. They are TOO YOUNG to be put through tht.. Only God chooses who gets to die and who doesnt..

Well i don’t think that teens should be executed that is just a little too extreme. I think that the teen who committed that crime shouldn’t die cause then they wouldn’t have to live with what they had done. Now see if they lived then they would have to deal with it their whole lives.

I believe no one should be executed!, especially a child.

I feel no one can play the roll of God and just take someone’s life, it’s wrong. Sure the kid did the wrong thing but making them suffer every day wishing they hadn’t done it would work. Give those children the chance to be forgiving for their sin and become a better person. Who are you guys to pick those children’s death dates? c’mon that isn’t the answer and also think about how the child’s family would feel.

I don’t think teens who murder should be executed because kids are molded by their environment. From the day they were born to about 2 their parents helped to make them the person they are today. If they grew up in an environment where all they saw was there dad beat their mom or their mom abuse them they will most likely grow up thinking that violence is how a person shows love. All I am saying is that a teen isn’t all the way responsible for their actions but even with that in mind i do believe that they should be punished. I just don’t think the death penalty is the way, matter of fact I feel the death penalty is no punishment at all. Its a easy way out, quick and painless.

People that think that just a few jail years will just scare the teens, and hopefully they’ll take pity and change, are up for a very rude awakening. It is actually worse to put them in jail because all it’ll do is make them even more vengeful and blood thirsty. In executing them, yes, it may cost a lot but I’d rather pay for that than watch a murderer live and not pay for his/her actions!!!

I do not believe that killing someone because they have done so. It does not justify nor brings the type of justice one hopes for, for any loved one

I think that if you think you can murder someone and just because you are a teen or a child that you should go through the same punishment as an Adult. You committed the same crime and you should be dealt the same punishment. Even though you still have to answer to the good creator of all things. Rules are made for a reason. If you break them you should be punished, no matter how old you are. Point blank simple!

Should the teens that murder be executed? I don’t think so. I think they should serve the same number of years as the age of the person that they killed.

I don’t think students that murder should be executed because everyone is going to mess up. NO one is GOD and thats up to him to take a life away. What should happen is they should be lock up and learn about what they have done. Teens should know right from wrong and killing is not one. No kid be taught to lie, steal, talk back, and more. but No one should take a life away it anit right and god dont like it. Thay will get there lesson and its going to be bad. I think teens should be executed for violent crimes. If it’s something a little less harsh, like shoplifting, then perhaps community services and restructuring programs.

There should also be an age-limit put on the death penalty. Say, 16 unless otherwise altered or specified by a Judicial official.

I figure, when you can drive, you’re responsible enough.

Teenagers can’t just get away with whatever they want. They need to learn responsibility. And how are they going to learn anything if they murder someone and get six months community service, while any ADULT gets up to life imprisonment, if not the death penalty…?

No i dont think teens should be executed for murder. I think certain people deserve another chance exspecially children/Teens. I believe that when people kill they are liable to do it again but if the have no conscience they will do it again, some people can change and children have the rest of thier life to. One mistake doent make you a bad person enless you continue to do the same dumb mistake.

i think that teen should NOT be sent to be executed. The kid(teen) probably doesn’t have all the blame. it has to do with how he/she grew up. of corse if he grew up in a bad enviorment with his/her parents beating him or abuse, he grew up thinking that’s a good thing. technically if you kill them they didnt “pay the price” (pay for their actions), they have probably suffered more all their life. although if they go to jail then they will ‘most likely’ regret what they have done.

i think that teens who murder should absolutley be executed, if adults are being executed for comitting malicous murders then a child should. a child is just as capable of having a sick mind as the next merdurer. think if your loved one was the one that was murdered, you would want them to pay for what the did and the only thing comparible is to take their life from them

Martha

I completely believe that teens should receive the same degree of punishment as an adult. If the sentence would be death penalty for an adult, then it should be death penalty for a teenager. The whole notion of a “teenager” is a modern invention. A hundred years ago you were a child, and then you became an adult. You were given adult responsibilities and you were expected to fulfill them. The modern teenager is capable of realizing the difference between right and wrong. Society doesn’t help by lowering expectations and treating them as simply “misunderstood” or “still finding themselves”. But regardless of what society expects, teenagers can rise above it, make their own decisions, and be responsible for those decisions. George Washington was seventeen when he became official surveyor for a county in Virgina. David Farragut, a flag officer of the United States Navy during the American Civil War, was 12 years old when he captained a captured British whaling ship in the War of 1812. Teens should not be given special treatment, and that includes capital punishment.

Now, before you go thinking I’m some insensitive radical, please understand. I’m sixteen. I’m one of those “teens”. So many of my friends are hurting and are unsure of what to do. They are caught in the restraints of low expectations and told that all they have to do is make fine grades and don’t kill anyone or get pregnant. School becomes a constant battle field that has little to do with academics. Teens don’t have it easy, they have it very hard. They have so little avenues to do something truly significant. They have the potential, but they don’t use it. So they turn to things they shouldn’t turn to to find significance. But they must understood that choices have consequences. They can’t dodge the consequences of their crimes simply because they are teens.

The purpose of punishment is not only to punish the offender, but to keep others from performing the same offense. When you give teenagers slack, others are only going to continue to rebel and emulate those who commit crimes. Should Teens be Executed? If the crime would put an adult on capital punishment, then yes. You are only creating more young criminals if you don’t.

I think it really depends if a teen gets executed or not! If the person is 18 and kills someone then they are in charge of their life and should get a bigger penalty for the way they acted then a 12 or 13 year old who is still a kid.

I believe teens should absolutely be executed for murder. They are old enough to know right from wrong, regardless of their bringing up, or whatever excuses you people can come up with. Someone posted that its not right to play God, but murderers do. They need to deal with the consequences of their actions, because most criminals get out of jail and are meaner and more blood thirsty than ever.

I will have to say that teens should also be executed: Although “Adults” have the tendency to baby “young adults”, teens are perfectly capable of taking responsibility for what they have done. Adults keep saying that “they are young so didn’t know any better”, but I will have to say that it absolutely wrong. In fact, teens know that adults will not try to execute them because they know that adults look down at them as “children”. Once they learn that they can get away with a crime due to some kind of reason (“they didn’t know any better”), they will think that they can do it again. Teens who end up in prison/juvenile (for what ever crime), end up going back once they get older.

We’re doing a paper in class, and I think that these little 11 year olds need not say anything . They are too young to understand the concepts of a death penalty. If teens do bad things such as murder I know I would feel guilty enough to the point where I would want to be punished. The death penalty has been used on many adults, and yeah it might have been a mistake but teenagers should be held for their actions.

I think it depends on the situation, but if a TEENAGER is smart enough to pull the trigger on a gun then they are smart enough to know right from wrong! It takes common sense to aim and pull the trigger and that is why they SHOULD be punished.

I believe that teens shouldn’t be issued the death penalty for the most serious crimes as well as types of murder. Age is among the reasons, if not the main reason, why the death penalty for minor offenders was struck down few or so years ago. Those under the age of 18 who’ve committed violent acts, even the most violent acts of crime, should be given life imprisonment while those 18 and older should be formally executed for crimes such as mass murder. For instance, Lee Boyd Malvo, a Jamaican-born citizen, was formally sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility parole for his involvement in the 2002 Washington, D.C. sniper shootings that left ten out of 13 people dead. The reason why Malvo, now 25, was sentenced to life in prison was because he was only 17 years old when he committed this horrendous act. His sensei and “father figure”, John Allen Mohammad, the adult sniper, also a former Marine Corps soldier, was the mastermind behind the Beltway sniper shootings who ruthlessly and brutally carried out the attacks. Mohammad had obviously been more of a threat to society than Malvo had been and was tried as an adult for this viciously, brutal act. Mohammad, the prime suspect behind the shootings, was given the death penalty for his involvement on the crime and was formally executed on November 10, 2009, 9:11 p.m. in Jarrett, Virginia. Crimes, such as the sniper attacks, is mostly considered a grown man’s crime and also considered mass murder. Minor offenders should be issued life sentences for these types of involvement. Lee Malvo is currently serving six consecutive life terms without the possibility of parole. John Mohammad deserved to die because the Beltway sniper attacks he carried out were very serious ones, way more serious crimes for someone as suspicious as Mohammad himself. That being said, the most serious punishment for teens who commit violent acts, even the most serious ones, should be put away for life, where as adults should be executed.

Mr. SnugglyPuff

Teens should be executed because mainly being a teenager is being an adult with few restrictions, at 12 most are trusted at a home alone, at 16 you are trusted to drive, at 18 you are trusted to vote someone that will run the country for 4 years…

Teenagers are adults and should be treated as such. If a teen kills another person, a few months or years locked up in a room isn’t going to change their mind. How many of you as teenagers were grounded? Did you still do bad things after you were let off punishment? I bet you did. That’s the same with committing a crime. Any person who liked doing it once will do it again.

I Think That Teens, That KILL And & Only Kill Should Be Executed , And & Not Be Put In Jail , Cause If They Go To Jail They’ll Have More Violence And & Want To Kill More And & Have A More Of A Chance To Kill More , And & You Can’t Be Blaming The Mom And & Or Dad Because The Teen Has The CHOOSE To Kill Or Not To, And & If They KILLED Someone And & Was Not Mentally Stable, They Could Live If It And & Not Care. The Teen Could Even Escape From Jail And & Kill Again And & Have A Lot Of Other People Killed, Does It Have To Get That Far To Execute A Teen When A Lot Of People Die ? And & It’s Not Fair When A 18 (year old) Would Have To Die For Killing Someone When A 17 (year old) That Killed Someone Just Get Life .

The Saying ’ Whatever Goes A Around Comes A Around . ’ If They Kill Someone, They SHOULD Pay For There Life . And & If You Say ‘Ohh But They Didn’t Know. ’ But EVERYONE Knows That If You Kill Someone You Have To Pay For It . And & If You Don’t Execute Them, Than They Should Get Life In Jail With No Parole. And & I’m Not Trying To Be Mean Or Anything But Most Of You Guys Are SO Dumb And & By The Way I’m 13. ( : Not Some Old Person Just Trying To Argue With People, I’m Just Trying To Tell You How I Feel And & Think Everyone Should Feel About It .

I strongly agree that teens should not be executed for murder, yes it is bad and yes you took someone’s life but, taking one life and then taking another isn’t the solution. That person should be held accountable for their actions, of course but not something such as a death penalty. Living, they get to live with the fact that they took someone’s life and not every situation is the same. Maybe it was an accident, like self defense. And not every person is heartless, most people are sincere and have much remorse for their actions. The death penalty should NEVER be an option. Teenagers are NOT adults, they still have tons of learning and growing to do.

I believe that teens that murder should not be executed. The teens may have not really known what they were doing. They grew up in an environment that molded them to do such things. I believe they should get 10 years in jail to think about what they’ve done and also get counselled.

Laura R., all caps is the online equivalent of yelling. The death penalty is written into the U.S. Constitution (article 3, section 3). If you were my daughter and you killed someone, I would demand that you be punished. This would not be a slap on the wrist as our justice system is doing to the criminals. A murderer, regardless of age should not be allowed to live. This includes you, Laura R. If you were my daughter and you killed someone, I would demand that you be tried and sentenced as an adult would be.

I think that someone who commits murder should be put to death regardless of age. Case in point. An 11 year old in Tennessee shot and killed his 8 year old neighbor. The boy should does not need rehabilitation. What he needs is for the state of Tennessee to strap him down and give him a lethal injection.

I think that people who kill someone should get the death penalty. This should be available for people as young as 10. If Laura R were my daughter and she went out and killed someone, I would want her to be sentenced to death. Upon the sentence being handed down, I would ask the judge for permission to take Laura R somewhere and remove her permanently from society.
