I don’t think his lack of perfect grammar is that much of a problem. But I really didn’t know of his blinded view of Sacred Scripture and Tradition! I knew of his plagiarism and his adultery but to me he is more of a civil rights leader then a minister. It just goes to show that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” That’s why we have Christ!
Thank you for your lifting of the fog of ignorance!
After reading a good portion of your article about King, there are a couple of things that I want to say. First, some if not all of the chinks in the armor of Kings character are possibly true if not probably true, it is just hard to discover exactly what the truth is about such a trouble-causing black man in the era of a country with an oppressive nature towards the color of the man in question. Second, I want to say that the tone with which you say what you say seems to be with such justification that it reminds me of what Jesus said to the Jews in Luke 11:47-48. -
Interesting observation. MLK was simply a politician - women, booze, and corruption are the norm. He is no different than Mr. Clinton, Mr. Spritzer, JFK, or any of the Kennedy’s for that matter! We can bash countless U.S. Presidents for days for the same things! At the end of the day, you ask yourself, did this gentleman do more good than bad? On another note, I’m assuming you are not of color. We as a nation enslaved blacks for over 400 years! They went without rights for far longer! You and your family had a 400 year head start on creating profitable business, and family wealth, as well as political influence that to this day, would still shun blacks without legal intervention. Not you specifically, but if you are white in this country, and you and your family have not created wealth with a 400 year head start, how obtuse are you?? How can you complain about affirmative action?? wahhh wahhh! With that being said, why do we celebrate President’s Day? Looks like the same holiday twice a year for anyone with a brain!
Thank you for having the guts to tell the truth. There has always been something about Jesse Jackson that makes my skin crawl, no surprise to hear he only uses religion as the means to get leverage within the African American community. I was born in October of 1968 and have always heard that MLK’s conduct was nothing like that of a true minister. I have never understood how blacks (and whites) could only see what they choose to see where he is concerned. He always sounded like a posturing hypocrite to me. There are true heroes among the black community but many of them go unsung, they didn’t do it for accolades.
However true or untrue your article is, Dr King never portrayed himself as a saint. He was a mortal man who made a difference in the lives of Blacks, Whites, Latinos, Asians, women, men and the poor. He served his country, he put his life on the line as well as his family for a greater cause.
You don’t know what was in Dr’s King’s heart because that is what defines a man’s character. Only God knows the real man; and seems to me He is the only One that count. This lead me to say, you do not have a hell, or heaven to put Dr. King in.
Therefore, what is your character, what is your motivation to defame a man’s name who is dead and not here to defend himself. Exactly what does that say about you?
Hello Mr. Boys,
I imagine that you receive lots of email so I’ll keep mine brief. In reading the third of your report it is clear that you are for making known the complete aspects of Dr King’s life. My initial thought of that is that seems pretty fair. In reading about some of the aspects of his life that you outline, you make it very clear that he was of average intelligence and below average in English and reading, etc. as well as being guilty of using the worst grammar in some of his important school papers and compositions, etc. You mention his adultery and drunkenness ways as well as opposite of Christian belief and views. Basically Dr. King was not a perfect man and to what degree his civil rights motives were relative to change in the African American community who knows.
The bottom line is that there are probably few important figures in our history without flaws and flaws a plenty. I’m not sure if in my history classes growing up that many of these flaws were mentioned for us to be tested on. I believe that our history reflects their contributions to our nation and not so much any flaws that they may have had. So a basic question I would have for you is why would it be such a priority to emphasize this man’s flaws relative to other important figures in our history? Apparently despite his flaws he was good at what he did and very instrumental in changing the lives of not just African Americans for the better but other nationalities and women as well.
If president George Washington was unsuccessful in his fight against the British our nation would be very different today. He was one of the greatest leaders of all time. Would we care or would it be important to know ‘if’ he tested at a low academic level, was a drunkard, adulterer, believer of nontraditional ideas, or just not the best person you would want your child to emulate? I don’t know any of these things to be true about president Washington but just for the sake of argument for expressing my point I used his name. You can fill in the blank with any past or present persons of high esteem or high ranking in our society. Should the whole story about a person be available for public consumption? I don’t necessarily have a problem with that but it should be consistent across the board with everyone. We should not go out of our way to log all aspects of a particular person’s life if we aren’t doing it for all.
Many of Dr. King’s flaws aren’t covered nationally for the same reason that other significant people in our history flaws aren’t covered nationally I suppose. Generally this makes sense as what good purpose would it serve to hammer the flaws of all of our leaders and people that inspire us for good in any way?
So as I apologize for a long email that was supposed to be short I would say that information should be available on everyone the same for those who want to seek it out and we should be careful about focusing on people’s flaws nationally if it’s not done consistently the same for all.
