Good evening.
While I agree with a lot of what you say about the movie, I do believe some emphasis on the suffering Christ endured before the cross and while on the cross is important. I believe this suffering is Gods wrath against sin. I think sometimes we get desensitized as to the depth that God hates sin and the beating Christ took and agonizing death was a testament to this wrath. I to believe that the beating in the passion overdid the point however, I also thought that the physical part demonstrated Gods hatred of sin something I need to keep reminding myself of and the fact that our Lord took the punishment and wrath for me. Thank you Lord Jesus. there is one other point in the movie which touched me. Mary walked away, and I know this is not directly in the Bible, she said how long are you going to allow this to continue before you stop this torture and beating. The point I take is that anytime Jesus could have said enough is enough and have been perfectly righteous but because of his great love for us he continued onward. Despite these points I had several problems with the movie not lining up with scripture. Take care and I hope you have a great year.
